Background
We worked with Blackburn with Darwen Council and Source Creative to help promote the offering in both Blackburn and Darwen town centres. Our goal was to drive footfall into the town centre and attendance at the events in Cathedral Square.
We spent time getting to understand the various diverse audiences and attitudes towards the towns. What were the key catchment areas? What negative perceptions did we need to answer? How would we best reach them?
The original plan was to produce an eye-catching festive creative to be used in digital and print ads, but it became clear that we needed a robust social media strategy to best attract the audience. Rather than use the Council’s social channels, we created new channels from scratch to support the campaign along with a new section on the DiscoverBwD website with event listings.
Our content team captured video and photo content to use on social media, working closely with the council team, partners and local businesses to highlight the amazing things Blackburn had to offer over Christmas. We set up and updated the website with the latest events as well as drafted a PR story about the activity.
