Background

The Barons Quay Kids Club (BQ Kids) was created with the aim of enhancing Barons Quay’s family-friendly offering while regaining the local community’s engagement after disruptions caused by the COVID lockdowns. Our focus was on providing a solution that not only brought families back to Barons Quay, but also addressed a fundamental need: creating safe, engaging spaces for children to socialise and have fun in a post-lockdown world.

The BQ Kids Club not only brought attention to the centre’s offerings but also created a sense of community around a shared experience for children and parents.

Tenant Engagement 

Tenant engagement was critical in the success of the kids club. By getting tenants to host events and give offers we enhanced the overall experience and increased footfall.

For example, Wildwood introduced a fantastic kids’ meal deal for just £1 exclusively for BQKids Club members which became one of the most popular aspects of the club and encouraging repeat visits to Barons Quay.

This collaboration with tenants not only enhanced the appeal of Barons Quay for families, but also fostered a sense of partnership between the centre and its tenants, strengthening the local community and ensuring that the family-friendly focus of the BQKids Club remained at the heart of the experience.

Local Community Involvement

We encouraged collaboration with local schools, businesses, and organisations to ensure that the BQKIDS Club reflected the interests and needs of the local area.

Events Are Key

We focused on developing regular monthly events that could provide children with the socialisation they had missed.

Overwhelming Success

The local community has embraced the initiative, and the positive impact is evident in the continued growth of the membership base, the popularity of the events, the positive feedback from parents and the increased footfall to Barons Quay.
